Super band reunites to honour Reg Lindsay
The 15th Annual Reg Lindsay Wine Country Rodeo and Music Reunion in Cessnock in March 2009 was an extra special event for a number of
reasons, particularly as it will was the first held since Reg’s passing on August 5, 2008.
Reg’s widow, Ros, has been busy organising friends of Reg’s to take part in a special segment during the event – the Ultimate Tribute concert.
Artists for The Ultimate Tribute concert will be backed by The Overlanders Super Band – composed of Phil Emmanuel, Rob Brown, Warren Neilsen, Dave “Stixy”
Adams, Gary Brown, George Boyer, Glen Bain and Gary Melross, most of whom toured with Reg. Artists confirmed for The Ultimate Tribute are Donita Dey,
Lee Britton, Jan Kelly and Lucky Starr – who will all perform a song of Reg’s, backed by this super band.
Col Baigent will compere the tribute segment of the event, while Roughstock, featuring Glen Baigent, will open and close the day’s entertainment around
the tribute concert and rodeo action.
The new feature event of the 2009 rodeo is the Howard and Queenie Winfield Memorial open bull ride, to honour both of Ros’s parents. In the past it’s been
known as the Howard Winfield Memorial, but sadly, Ros lost her dear mum, Queenie, only a matter of days after she buried Reg.
“Reg loved rodeos and getting together with his musical mates, and he loved his family – so this one will be extra special,” Ros said. “Reg always wanted
to have a reunion picnic, with each year showcasing someone different from his touring and television days, so I feel this is something Reg would love to
It all takes place at Cessnock Showgrounds on Saturday, March 14, 2009. Other events will be open saddle bronc and open bareback, novice bull ride, steer
wrestling, rope and tie team roping, ladies barrel race and steer undecorating, junior steer ride and junior barrel race and the very exciting 10-second
ride in the RM Williams Ringer’s Buckjump Spectacular.
